UAE Says It Intercepted 15 Missiles and 119 Iranian Drones

The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defense said its air-defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a number of ballistic missiles and drones fired by Iran on Saturday, March 7.

In its statement, the ministry said UAE air-defense systems detected 16 ballistic missiles, intercepting and destroying 15 of them, while one fell into the sea. It also reported that 121 drones were identified, with 119 intercepted and destroyed and two crashing within UAE territory.

The Ministry of Defense also stated that since the start of the “Iranian aggression,” a total of 221 ballistic missiles have been detected. Of these, 205 were intercepted and destroyed, 14 fell into the sea, and two landed on UAE territory. During the same period, 1,305 Iranian drones were identified, with 1,229 intercepted and destroyed, while 76 crashed inside the country. In addition, eight cruise missiles have been detected and destroyed during this period.

According to the statement, these attacks resulted in the deaths of three nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Another 112 individuals sustained minor injuries. UAE officials noted that those injured include citizens from the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, and Turkey.

The UAE Ministry of Defense concluded by saying the country is fully prepared to confront any threat and will respond decisively to any attempt to endanger national security, in order to safeguard the sovereignty, security, and stability of the Emirates, as well as its national interests and capabilities.
