Amid a continuing wave of arrests across Iran, dozens of citizens in Tehran have been detained in connection with their activities on a Telegram channel.
Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that Tehran police announced the arrest of 50 individuals. According to the outlet, these people allegedly published “sensitive information,” including images and locations of certain sites and infrastructure, in virtual spaces and shared them with “enemy agents.” Fars further noted that the individuals were active within a specific Telegram group.
In recent days, several “forced confessions” from individuals detained under similar charges have been broadcast, fueling significant concern regarding the safety and well-being of those currently in custody.
In a separate report, it was claimed that an individual was arrested for “continuous communication with hostile and counter-revolutionary networks, particularly the Manoto channel.”
The provincial Law Enforcement Command announced the arrest of five people, three men and two women. Authorities claim they were in contact with “foreign hostile media and network leaders” via social media platforms.
