NetBlocks, the independent global internet monitor, said that after 49 days of internet shutdown in Iran, user connectivity remains stuck at 2%.
Experts say this slight 2% rise in access is linked only to the rollout of a "tiered internet" system known as Internet Pro.
Yesterday, some Google services, including Search and Gmail, briefly became accessible to users.
Still, some officials have spoken out against restoring full access. Fazlollah Ranjbar, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s Social Commission, said:
"It may not be expedient for the internet to be accessible under such conditions, as it could potentially provide a platform for other issues to arise."
