Hours earlier, sources within the Pakistani government informed the BBC that Araghchi would arrive in Islamabad on the evening of Friday, April 24.

IRNA, Iran’s official news agency, has announced that Abbas Araghchi is beginning a diplomatic tour that will include stops in Pakistan, Oman, and Russia. The agency stated that the purpose of the Foreign Minister’s upcoming trip is to “discuss current regional developments as well as the latest situation regarding the war.”

Hours earlier, sources within the Pakistani government informed the BBC that Araghchi would arrive in Islamabad on the evening of Friday, April 24.

Previously, reports had emerged regarding telephone conversations between Araghchi and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, and Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan. It has been reported that a U.S. logistics and security team is already in Islamabad for these discussions.

None of the published reports explicitly linked this trip to potential negotiations between Iran and the United States. However, in a joint press conference with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. Secretary of Defense stated that Iran has the opportunity to reach a “good” and “wise” agreement with the U.S.

Pete Hegseth claimed that the U.S. military “achieved a decisive military result in just a few weeks.” He reiterated that “ultimately, Iran will not have an atomic bomb” and described the U.S. military operation against the Islamic Republic as a “gift to the world.”

The U.S. Secretary of Defense added that the operation has entered a new phase and is ongoing. He referred to the naval blockade of Iran, describing it as “ironclad.” Pete Hegseth stated that this blockade is “becoming more powerful by the day.”

Evidence suggests that officials of the Islamic Republic have so far been unable to reach a consensus among themselves regarding the continuation of negotiations. This situation led Donald Trump to post on Truth Social yesterday, referring to the “unknown nature of the leader in Iran,” remarks that ignited the anger of Iranian officials.

The heads of the three branches of government and other officials, including Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force, published a joint statement on their X accounts in response to these claims.
