The Israeli military announced that, following its airstrike on Hezbollah positions in Beirut's Dahiyeh, it has prepared for the possibility of missile fire from Iran in the coming hours.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Israeli military declared that current security assessments indicate Iran may fire missiles toward Israel in response to the attack carried out in Beirut. According to the statement, Eyal Zamir, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli military, held a meeting with relevant commanders following the attack on Beirut's Dahiyeh to review the situation.
The Israeli military further emphasized that its forces remain on high alert for various defensive and offensive scenarios and will not allow attacks against Israeli territory to go unanswered. Despite the raised level of security alerts, the Israeli military announced that there is currently no change in the Home Front Command's instructions for civilians.
This warning was issued after the Israeli military targeted positions belonging to Hezbollah in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahiyeh, hours earlier. Israeli officials have stated that the strike was carried out in response to projectiles fired by Hezbollah into northern Israel.
