A family dispute turned deadly on Thursday night when a man shot and killed six relatives before taking his own life in the northern Iranian city of Amol, police said.
The gunman opened fire on his wife’s family members around 9:15 p.m. with a handgun, according to the local police commander.
The victims included the gunman’s father-in-law, brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and his brother-in-law’s young child, police said.
Three others were wounded in the shooting. The gunman killed himself after the attack, authorities said.
Emergency responders transported the wounded to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Homicide investigators are examining the circumstances and motive behind the shooting.
