Trump Posts Image of Strait of Hormuz Renamed “Trump Strait”

U.S. President Donald Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz on his social media platform, Truth Social, showing the waterway renamed as the “Trump Strait.”

He had earlier used the term “Trump Strait” during a speech. The audience laughed, but Trump said the media might first call it a “slip of the tongue,” before adding, “everyone knows I rarely make mistakes.”

Around the same time, Democratic representatives questioned Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth about Trump’s mental health during a congressional hearing on the president’s proposed military budget. Democratic Representative Sara Jacobs specifically raised questions about Trump’s recent Truth Social posts. One of Jacobs’ aides displayed printed posters on the House floor showing two of Trump’s previous posts, including one since-deleted post that depicted him as a figure resembling Jesus Christ.

In response, Hegseth asked the congresswoman: “Did you ask Joe Biden this same question for four years? You didn’t, and I won’t even engage with this level of disregard you’re showing for the Commander-in-Chief… You want to ask this question after you and other members of your party defended a Joe Biden who could hardly speak?”

In recent months, several of Trump’s Truth Social posts have triggered strong reactions.
