Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament), responded to remarks made by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding the consequences of the ongoing blockade of Iran’s southern ports.
Ghalibaf claimed that the Islamic Republic’s oil and gas infrastructure remains undamaged and that the country’s energy exports are continuing. He stated that Tehran is prepared to provide live footage of its oil wells to the public to refute these claims.
Yesterday, Bessent stated that the continued naval blockade and the prevention of Iranian oil exports would soon lead to the saturation of storage tanks and a halt in pipeline flow, a situation he said could paralyze the main artery of the Iranian economy.
In response, Ghalibaf wrote on his X account: “In the past three days, not a single oil well has exploded, and we can demonstrate this status via a live feed for the next 30 days.” He also attributed the rise in global oil prices to Washington’s policies, warning that continuing this approach could drive oil prices even higher.
