The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has canceled the funeral of its commander-in-chief Hossein Salami on Thursday, citing "security measures and decisions by relevant officials."
The IRGCs’ Saheb al-Zaman Corps in Isfahan province announced in a statement that the ceremony would not be held as planned.
Salami and Masoud Shanei, his office manager, were scheduled to be buried on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in Golpayegan.
The IRGC had previously announced that a national farewell ceremony for Salami and other commanders killed in Israeli attacks would be held Saturday in front of Tehran University's main gate.
