Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said a Japan-linked vessel carrying three Japanese crew members passed through the Strait of Hormuz without incident, exited the Persian Gulf, and is now on its way to Japan.
In a post on X on Wednesday, April 29, she wrote that during her conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic, she stressed the need to guarantee the free and safe passage of all ships, including Japanese vessels, through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Japanese prime minister called the ship’s passage a positive sign and said Tokyo would continue talks with Tehran to ensure that other Japan-linked vessels can also pass through the route safely and without obstruction.
It was earlier reported that a supertanker owned by the Japanese company Idemitsu Kosan successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and left the Persian Gulf on Tuesday.
